In Colossians 1:9-12, Paul shared 6 things that will help us to get closer to God.
9 - For this reason since the day we heard about you we have not stopped praying for you and asking God [ 1 - to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.] Always ask God for direction.
10 - And we pray this in order that [ 2- you may live a life worthy of the Lord] and may please him in every way: All of us need the Holy Spirit to remind us of our life and that it is to be one of respect before God because we are Christians (Christ-like). [ 3 - bearing fruit in every good work], are we seeing good results in our life? Is our life a true witness? A light that is shining bright for JESUS? [ 4 - growing in the knowledge of God]. We won't be completely transformed into His image until we get to heaven, but while we are still on planet earth there is so much to learn of God . . . we can always learn more and more about our Lord!
11 [ 5 - Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might] so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully.
12 [ 6 - giving thanks to the Father] who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. Each and every single day we need to walk in thanksgiving and praise . . . knowing God is our provider.
The bible says that if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
God does not love you because you are valuable - you are valuable because God loves you.
This is how we know what love is Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. 1 John 3:16
