I have to share with you, dear ones, how the Lord has dealt with my "soaring frustration" today.
I'm sitting here, chuckling, at His wonderful way of speaking to my heart. You see, quite a number of things were just plain not going the
way they should . . . you know what I mean, we've all been there . . . and I was hearing my own voice making these awful "grunting" sounds, heavy sighs, etc., and then, bless Him, He directs me to
Psalm 16:5-10. What a blessed, delightful Savior we have! Let's take a look at these verses (I'm using NIV):
"Lord, You have assigned me my portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance." (that's only 5-6, but I have to stop here for a moment) I started laughing! I am serious, I literally started to laugh - "Lord!" I said, "You've got to be teasing me!" You see, dear ones, it sure did not 'feel' at the moment that all my boundary lines were in pleasant places, nor did it seem
like my lot was anywhere near secure - but He encouraged me to continue on . . .
"I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me." (verse 7) This is SO true! Just last night I felt His presence so incredibly strong in my sleep - there was singing and strength, and encouragement and peace . . .
"I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken." (verse 8) OUCH! I will not be shaken. What was that "grunting" sound earlier? Hmmm . . .
"Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me to the grave." (verses 9-10)
Well . . . here I sit, still have the same "things going wrong", yet instead of frustration, I have laughter. Why? Because I had my focus on the wrong thing before! I mean, Who IS in control? I am SO glad our Lord is so wonderful as to gently remind us and help us get our focus back on Him! "I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken." and to that, I say a resounding 'AMEN'!
