Welcome to the Study

Pull up a chair, curl up with the Word and let's begin!

You may wish just to print it and do it off-line, which is fine. - do not worry about the background or text, it will print out for you!

Welcome! This week we continue our in-depth study of Psalm 119.

We begin with verses 1 - 8, which are listed under the "a" of the Hebrew alphabet. The Hebrew name is "Aleph".

These verses start with telling us how very blessed we are if we are undefiled, and walk in the way of the Lord.

Giving us a guide into being blessed, this Psalm is full of deep truths just waiting to be feasted upon. How can we obtain this blessing? How is it possible for us to be undefiled, keep His commands, follow His Word? How can we even begin to walk in the proper way to receive this blessing, if we do not know what the Word of God is? Ah, my friends, this is where our hunger needs to be stirred! This should set our hearts ablaze with desire to know more and more of Him. (After all, who doesn't wish to live a life that is truly blessed?!)

This is only the begining, though - as we learn more about our precious Lord, and His ways, praises begin to pour out from our hearts, out of our lips to Him. We need not ever be ashamed of His goodness, or the blessings He sends our way!

Our deepest desire should be to be so close to Him, in His presence (remember how you could not wait to be near your sweetheart?) to become so close that your heart begins to beat as His - it will be a joy to walk in His ways then! And, when we have a time of dryness, we, too may feel as though He has left us for a moment, but we can be assured that He will never leave us or forsake us!

We will continue with the next section, "Beth", next time.
