This study began by some questions 4-Given Ministries received and grew from there.
My question would be will they still have a presence in heaven? Since they are messengers and comforters now, will there still be a need for them with Jesus on the throne?
We know that they are inhabitants of heaven (Mark 13:32 & Galatians 1:8), and we know that they serve the Lord as His messengers and are in His presence with praises - we find this in Hebrews 16-14; Revelation 5:11; Revelation 7:11 specifically, but all throughout Revelation we read about the rolls they have in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Did Jesus talk about angels when He was on Earth?
Yes! The most memorable occasion is when He told His disciples "Put your sword back in its place . . . . do you think I cannot call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:52-53)
Do people have their own guardian angel and do I have one, and if so, what significance should I place on that?
Let us look up the following Scriptures, and prayerfully ask the Lord to speak His answers into your heart (I'm leaving room for your to make notes - copy and paste into a word document and have it for your own personal use):
2 Kings 6:16-17
What significance should we place in that? It would depend upon what you mean by "that". I truly believe that we can walk a very fine line here . . . I would lean toward just being eternally grateful for our Abba Father's provision and protection, and leave it at that. Angels are His servants, and are called to minister to our needs as well, but only at the Father's bidding. If we start to put too much significance upon them instead of He Who created them and sends them, we can get way out of line with His Word which clearly states that we are not to worship them! (Colossians 2:18 & Revelation 19:9-10; not to mention why Lucifer was cast out of Heaven to begin with! - but that is another lesson)
As far as a question I have about angels, I'm not really sure, I guess I would like to know if there is fighting among the angels. What I mean is like good angels fighting the bad like in the Frank Peretti Novels I have read.
The passage that comes to mind when I read this question is found in Daniel 10. This was a spiritual battle, Daniel was in prayer and the Lord heard the prayer and sent the answer, however in the heavenlies there was a battle - the enemy tried to stop the answer from coming to Daniel. This, in itself, could be another lesson or two. The different types of principalities and powers over certain areas (you find it throughout the Word, and most of us have experienced it from time to time, maybe unaware of what it was).
Another one of the Scriptures that comes to mind is one that we looked at above, 2 Kings 6:16-17
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:9-14
